On 14 of September 2019, school in the sector of Kenya came together to celebrate the legacy of De La Salle who started the mission of helping the poor through education. The celebrations were held at Mwangaza College in Nakuru and brought together all the schools from the sector.
The service was led by Fr. Cleophas Oseso, who gave a strong message on the need to be like a child. This is not to say that one should be childish but to humble, to be trustful, be forgiving and be pure of heart like a child the Father ministered.
 
He stressed on the need to give your whole in anything that you do. Fr Moses helped Fr. Cleophas Oseso in conducting the mass that ended around noon. Brother Betre had a message to all parents, student and laypersons, telling them that they are part of the Lasalle family hence are ambassadors of Lasalle work. The laymen constituted a huger part of the Lasalle work force more than even the Brothers and this shows how important they are in driving forward the work of Lasalle and hence they are Lasallians even though they are not Brothers, Brother said.
 
The students are taught with the values of Lasalle and as such they are you Lasallians, the brother continued. We should threfeore embrace our mission and continue the legacy of De Lasalle Lwanga.
 
Parents of the students and the layperson’s were part of the guests that joined the celebrations at Mwangaza College. Parents and guests who then entertained by the students from the various schools in the district.
 
School Directors who are all Brothers of the various Lasallian schools who celebrated for their hard selfless work to the Lasalle ministries
 
He laymen who had served the district for the longest period of time were also recognized and appreciated for their good service and loyalty to the work of Lasalle.

The Official Name

The name of the Brothers’ Institute is the Brothers of the Christian Schools. To retain the connection with their founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle, we call ourselves De La Salle Christian Brothers in ordinary conversation. The FSC following the Brothers’ names stands for the Latin name of the congregation, Fratres Scholarum Christianarum. Pope Benedict XIII granted approval of the Institute in 1725.

The Brothers of the Christian Schools began making a difference in people's lives over 320 years ago. The name of the Brothers’ Institute is the Brothers of the Christian Schools. To retain the connection with their founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle, the Brothers call themselves De La Salle Christian Brothers in ordinary conversation.
We were founded by St. John Baptist de La Salle, a French priest, who saw the need for a group of lay men who would dedicate their lives to the ministry of Christian education, especially for the poor.
